From Hating Traffic to Working with 7 and 8 figure Online Businesses: My Story
I was born and raised in a country notorious for its horrendous traffic. I remember spending hours upon hours of my life stuck in gridlock, with nothing to do but stress out. It felt like I was wasting my life away.
There are few things more frustrating than being stuck in traffic. Whether you’re trying to get to work or get home to your family, sitting in a car that isn’t going anywhere is a huge waste of time. And it’s not just the time that’s wasted—sitting in traffic also causes stress and anxiety.
The constant stop-and-go can be tedious and maddening, and the risk of getting into an accident is always present.
Having that problem is a tremendous blessing as it forced me to think of ways to earn money without physically being there.
Here are the beliefs that got me out of the typical Commute > Work > Commute lifestyle:
Value can be exchanged even if you are not physically present.
The value you have in a company depends on the skills you have. If you could find a way to deliver that value even if you are not physically there, you won’t be dependent on a location to earn a living.
The internet is a medium that can be used in the exchange of value.
The internet has allowed for the exchange of value to take place without people being in the same place. You could be in one part of the world and provide a service to someone in another part of the world. This was unheard of before the internet came about.
There are opportunities everywhere. We are conditioned to think that we need to go to certain places to find opportunities. But that’s not the case at all. There are opportunities all around us, we just have to be looking for them
There are people in the world that believe in (1) and (2) like me.
There are people in the world that are willing to pay for services no matter where you’re from, or what the color of your skin is. There are people that will understand the value and skills you provide and are willing to pay for it. This means you can find people that will pay you for what you do, regardless of your location.
One of the things I struggled with the most when I started working online was finding the right way to earn money.
Article writing, blogs, creating websites, affiliate marketing. You name it, I’ve probably done it. There are a lot of different options out there, and it can be tough to figure out which ones are worth your time. I tried a lot of different things in the early days, and most of them didn’t work out very well.
A lot of mistakes, trial and error led me to meet some of the most successful online entrepreneurs in the world. And working with them has taught me more than I ever could have learned on my own.
Where I started
Since I have not been successful in my ventures in affiliate marketing and blogging, I went back to work as an overseas Filipino using the course I learned in college.
But I knew deep in my heart that it is possible to work from anywhere and earn a decent living.
The hours are long, and the pay is not so good. Looking back, that gave me the push I needed to make working from home a reality.
This time, instead of finding a new business venture, I started finding jobs that you could do online.
The risk I had to take
A big mindset shift I had was in order to get a job that will pay well and I can do it from anywhere, I knew I had to be a step above and do things that no job applicants would do.
I reached out to entrepreneurs, directly.
This is a huge risk I had to take because I may come off as annoying or desperate. But I knew if I don’t take this risk, the job prospects I have will be very limited. Not to mention the competition I had applying for jobs.
In addition, I ramped up the skills I thought they would need and see what value I can bring to the table.
This was a huge investment for me because I had to spend money on courses and other materials that I can use to show the potential employer that I am worth investing in.
